It's IMPOSSIBLE to find a maternity skirt. DI, Ross, Shopko, Classifieds - none of them have maternity skirts. My denim one is still wearable - but very uncomfortable because of the seam that runs along the bottom of my stomach. It's tight, and it hurts.
On the other hand, I have a nice black skirt that fits and is very comfortable. The problem? No shoes. My feet are so swollen right now that none of my shoes fit. I could, of course, just wear flip-flops, but on top of feeling uncomfortable wearing flip-flops in church, I imagine it'll be cold(er) by the time I have my little one and flip-flops won't be appropriate anymore.
I thought it would be easier to find a larger skirt than it would be to find some shoes that fit. Oh, skirts are around (rarely) - Motherhood Maternity - but I can't justify spending $30+ for something that I'll wear 6 or 7 times. *sigh* I've looked for maternity patterns, too, but more often than not, they're 60's styles and, um, unsightly. (Sorry, Mom!!!) :) So, I'm stuck.
Anybody have any seriously awesome ideas to get me through these last 6 or 7 weeks? Oh, and I don't like maternity dresses because I just look like an elephant in them - or, as my sweet oldest son put (when I was pregnant with Gavin): You don't look like an elephant, Mom. (Me, thinking, "Oh, how sweet." Then, he continues:) You look like a hippopotamus!

Oh Renee!! I'm so sorry, this is another reason I don't want to be pregnant right now. But on the bright side the swelling may go down as the cooler weather comes...at least mine did....as for skirts, I don't even remember what I did, have you thought of borrowing from other people? Good luck!!!
I bought one that was just like two sizes to big for me, another one I have is just a regular skirt, but has an elastic waist band. If you come to Tridell soon, you are welcome to have it, it is pretty cute its all different colors of pink, layers... Another thing you may think about is what Delsi did to a pair of her pants... she cut the top off and sewed her own stretchy material on. It worked really good.
Try a BellaBand, target has them. I used mine all the time and I still use them because I can't fit in my regular pants yet.
Hey! I remember this dilema - only mine came early enough that I could justify the Motherhood Maternity expense. If you get desperate - I have a cute khaki one I wore weekly with Conni I could send up to you. Also - check out Dress Barn (if there's one up there) - that's where I found the elastic waist skirt I wore for Conni's blessing. And it was like $15 on sale!
Good luck sweetie!
